Question #1What type of wood do you use in your construction?
Answer:We use Eastern White Cedar on all of our floating pieces.  Depending on the type of waterfront deck style, we may use pressure-treated lumber, as framing only, to provide heavy-duty structural support.  All decking materials are Eastern White Cedar.

Question #2What types of metal do you use in your construction?
Answer:We only use commercial strength stainless or galvanized steel.

Question #3Do I need a permit to do work at my waterfront?
Answer:Usually you do.  You should contact your local branch of the Conservation Authority, or if there isn't one, the nearest representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources to see what's required.  We can help you with that process, if you desire.

Question #4Do you recommend stain?
Answer:We recommend stain over water sealers.  We use only Cabot® or SuperDeck® stains which also come in virtually any colour or opacity you choose.  White Cedar has a long life untreated and will naturally age to a silver-grey.

Question #5What if the access to my shore line is very steep?
Answer:We have an affiliate company whose sole purpose is to provide environmetally-friendly access to your waterfront with hillside lifts.  Please  contact us for more information.

Question #6I may need a retaining wall.  Can you do look after that?
Answer:Yes, we can.  We have an affiliate company that looks after excavating and landscaping.  Please contact us for more infomation.

Question #7I would like electrical power at my waterfront but have no access to household power.  What do I do?
Answer:We have an affiliate company that provides solar power capability and  battery back-up systems for homes and cottages.  Contact us for more information.

Question #8What type of docks to you make?
Answer:We only manufacture floating docks due to their minimal impact on the environment and portability.

Question #9I'd like something custom-designed for my waterfront.  Do you do that?
Answer:We thrive on creating your indivualized space.  We will work with you to develop what you'd like at your waterfront.

Question #10What's the advantage to floating docks?
Answer:The major advantage to floating docks is that the height of the dock from the water is always relative.  A floating dock floor height never changes with respect to the water level.  This is important for boat mooring and access.
